Introduction to Film Scoring
Course Breakdown
module 1
A basic Workflow
Learn the core steps for every film scoring project, including importing your movie into a DAW, spotting the movie and syncing key moments to your music, and then scoring. We'll do this with a documentary clip which we'll provide for you to import and score yourself.
module 2
Telling Stories with Music
We'll score a scene a few different ways, showing the transformative effect music can have on a movie. We'll be using and providing a clip from Batman Beyond: Year One. We'll be giving you a short composition task too – scoring action to suspense.
module 3
Final Steps
Learn from an Emmy-nominated composer
More than just tutorials

Three short Movie clips to score
Download three clips from different genres so you can have a go at scoring yourself. Each clip includes dialog or voice over for you to score around.

HIT points set up in Logic and Cubase
See how professional composers sync music to picture by downloading project files for Cubase and Logic Pro that have key hit-points and tempo changes ready to go.

NEW: GET FEEDBACK ON YOUR MUSIC
ClassMate is an optional feature that lets you gain valuable feedback on your work from our global community of music makers. Just upload some music to get scores for different aspects, and give feedback on other's music, too.

Interactive video
Interactive videos are a bit like having a conversation with Guy. They offer you a more immersive and rewarding learning experience, and are a great way to explore your creative choices.
